The giveaway consists 50 box sets for only $2 (each) from amazing artists like Elton John, Eagles, John Lennon, Grateful Dead, KISS, Radiohead, Nirvana and James Brown. Typically they are priced somewhere in between $15 and $100. There is also the Holiday Freebies, which include over 100 albums you can choose from and download for free. Some of the artists include: The Rolling Stones, Linkin Park, Nickelback, Led Zeppelin, Madonna, Kid Rock, Prince, Josh Groban, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Rihanna, and many more. OK, here is the deal, at Microsoft communication isn’t always the best. So to make it a little clear, it seems that the offers only cover customers in the United States. Some users have reported that you need a Music Pass. However I can confirm that you don’t need a subscription. Currently I don’t have a subscription and I see the “Holiday Freebies” section on Xbox Music and I’m downloading albums without a problem. Now, to get these music deals, you need (obviously) a Microsoft account and you’ll also need to install Xbox Music app on Windows 8.x or Windows Phone. But the simplest way to get these deals is by using the Music Deals app. Then simply launch the app, look for the “Holiday Freebies” sections, choose an album, click “Get it for free”, confirm that you’re about to switch to the Xbox Music app and go crazy downloading all the songs. One thing to consider is that some of the albums will say that you need to actually buy the album in order to play some of the songs. However, you’re getting tons of music for free, you can’t complaint. Just a quick note: Remember that Microsoft is discontinuing the free ad-supported feature from Xbox Music. Starting December 1st, 2014, you’ll need an Xbox Music pass to stream music, but not to use the app and listen to your own music. This is a great deal for everyone, if you’re an iTunes user, still worth it to create an account, install the Xbox Music download the free songs and move them to your iTunes library. You can do whatever you want, they are your songs. Microsoft didn’t specify for how long this music deal will last, but using the Music Deals apps you’ll notice that albums have different “time left” to get them. So get them as soon as you can.
