Windows 10 build 14959, according to the software giant, doesn’t include any significant visual changes, but it introduces a new update publishing system known as Unified Update Platform (UUP). In addition, this update for the Windows 10 Creators Update improves display scaling on virtual machines using Hyper-V, and there is a slew of fixe for PC and Mobile devices. Unified Update Platform
Microsoft calls it “Unified Update Platform” (UUP for short), and it’s a new update publishing system that will help to optimize the delivery of new feature updates. Through this new technology the software giant is expecting to deduce every major feature update by 35 percent. This is possible because the new download package will only contain the changes made since the last update, instead of having to download and reinstall the operating system entirely. Starting with build 14959, the Unified Update Platform is available for Mobile devices, but it’ll also work across PC, tablet, IoT, and HoloLens. In addition, Microsoft is also redesigning the way devices check for updates and making the experience more efficient. In the Windows 10 Creators Update, when a device checks for updates a lot of the processing will be handled by the Windows Update service, which will translate in a faster update experience, fewer resources, and reduction of power consumption that will benefit everyone, especially mobile devices.
Additional fixes and improvements for PC
This new flight part of the Creators Update adds a new Zoom option in the View menu to override the client’s scaling settings. Fixed automatic brightness setting unexpectedly being turned off after upgrading. Addressed an issue resulting in certain apps, such as Outlook Mail and Calendar, failing to update for some Insiders with the error code 0x800700B7. Fixed a problem with certain device models where ejecting an SD card might result in a system crash. Addressed problem with Spotlight in the lock screen, and now it works as expected even when disliking an image. Fixed an issue where launching an app from another app while in Tablet mode no longer launched it side by side, and instead launched it full screen.
Known issues for PC
Third party antivirus may prevent you from updating to build 14959. Internet Explorer may suddenly crash.
Additional fixes and improvements for Windows 10 Mobile
Data usage settings page has been updated with performance and visual improvements. Fixed issue preventing to add cards to Wallet and paying using tap to pay. Addressed problem resulting in being unexpectedly able to close Start in the task switcher. Fixed issue resulting in certain options for default calling app via Settings > System > Phone > Default apps from being unexpectedly missing. Addressed problem causing apps that play media in the background, such as Groove Music, to stop when Battery Saver turns on. Fixed issue causing the phone get into a state where copy/paste wouldn’t work until the device had been restarted. Address problem where Settings might hang after unchecking “Let apps automatically use this VPN connection” in VPN Settings.
Known issues for Windows 10 Mobile
You will be unable to install additional languages, keyboards, and speech packs on your phone.
